The armed forces are consistently confronted with the need to ensure provisioning of ground forces and personnel deployed in extreme and hostile environments. Furthermore they must nowadays also ensure the supply chain in a context of economic crisis, as well as the increasing environmental awareness of society. This obliges today’s armed forces to rethink and improve methods of planning and management of resources in order to move towards more sustainable models that will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of mission deployment.
